Scott Burke, DMD
Dr. Burke was recently voted one of the “Best Dentists in America” by his peers, recognizing the experience and skills gained with 23 years at our dental practice.
Upon the completion of his undergraduate studies at the University of Maine, Dr. Burke received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1980. He went on to complete a two year general dentistry residency program at the University of Vermont before joining the practice. He has taken over 1700 hours of continuing education, including studies at the Pankey Institute for Advance Dental Education.
Dr. Burke is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, and is a member of the American Dental Association, The Maine Dental Association, and The Greater Portland Dental Society. He gives back to the community through active participation in his church.
Leigh Philbrick, DMD
Another "Best Dentists of America" recipient, Dr. Philbrick has been with our practice since 1987. Following his undergraduate studies at Bowdoin College, Dr. Philbrick went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1986. He then completed a general practice residency at the University of Pennsylvania.
A big believer in the value of continuing education, Dr. Philbrick has completed over 1000 hours of additional training including studies at the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education, The Dawson Center, and The Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education.
Dr. Philbrick is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Maine Dental Association, and the Greater Portland Dental Society. He also participates in Donated Dental Services, a humanitarian service to the disabled, elderly, and medically compromised, as well as participation in the Free Denture Program through Community Dental.
Thomas W. Corwin, DDS

Also recently voted one of the “Best Dentists of America,” Dr. Corwin has worked in private practice for over 25 years. A Texas transplant, Dr. Corwin earned his undergraduate degree in Biology at Texas A&M University, and subsequently received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1983. After nine years of private practice in Texas, Dr. Corwin and his wife relocated to the Portland, Maine area and joined us in 1993.
A strong advocate of continuing education, Dr. Corwin has completed over 1600 hours of additional training, including studies at The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education, the Dawson Center, and the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education, as well as the Postgraduate Program in Esthetic Dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry.
Dr. Corwin is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and is a member of The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Equilibration Society, the American Dental Association, the Maine Dental Association, and The Greater Portland Dental Society. He is a Consultant Examiner for the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners (NERB). He gives back to the community through Donated Dental Services, a humanitarian service to the disabled, elderly, and medically compromised, as well as participation in the Free Denture Program through Community Dental.

Business Manager/Operations
Reneta Cloutier, R.D.H., B.S
Re has been with the practice for over 35 years and has served in multiple staff positions. She holds a degree in Applied Science (dental hygiene) and a baccalaureate in Business Management. When not dealing with practice issues, she lives in Windham with her husband, two Goldens and four cats. Most free time is spent lovingly restoring and landscaping their antique Greek Revival home.
Business Staff
Kathy
Kathy has ten years experience in the dental business office and is our financial coordinator as well. She grew up in Maine and lives with her husband and several cats. She, in her free time, enjoys camping, hiking canoeing and golfing.
Kris
Kris attended one year at the University of New Hampshire, then went on to 20 years in the retail book business. She transitioned into dental assisting and came to join us in the business office. She is married with two grown daughters, grandmother to three – all well behaved and stepmom to two Rhodesian Ridgebacks - almost well behaved. Kris enjoys watching the ‘little ones’ grow, mothernature and kayaking with her husband, Jack. She also likes reading and doing fibrearts.
Dental Hygienists
Our dental hygienists have a preventive philosophy and are experts at helping you understand how to achieve and maintain a healthy mouth. In addition to performing routine cleanings, they are also able to provide detailed oral hygiene instruction, place dental sealants, and provide comfortable non-surgical treatment of gum disease.
Bethany
Bethany has a baccalaureate degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of New England. She has been practicing for over ten years. Beth lives with her husband, Craig and two daughters, Lauren and Sydney. She enjoys many activities; reading, cooking, travel, Disney and playing with her girls. Also sewing, scrap booking and watercolor painting.
Tammy
Tammy previously worked as a dental assistant before graduating from the University of New England in May 2000. She has been with us since 2003. She lives in Biddeford with her two sons. She enjoys spending time with her children, being outdoors and living a healthy lifestyle.
Erin
Erin has a degree in marketing from the University of Maine and graduated with a degree from the University of New England in Dental Hygiene in 2001. She is married with two daughters. She also enjoys the beach, reading, cooking, traveling, camping and scrap booking.
Shana
Shana joined us right out of the University of New England with a degree in dental hygiene in 2006. She grew up in Portland and recently moved to Casco with her husband, Dan and their two cats (who are like children to them). She enjoys scrap booking, arts and crafts, spending time with family and friends, and working on their new home.
Dental Assistants
Our dental assistants assist the doctors during procedures, and they also educate patients and perform certain dental procedures such as teeth bleaching, diagnostic impressions and provisional restorations.
Susan
Susan attended Dental Assisting Technology school and has assisted for 30 years. She has been Dr. Philbrick’s assistant since he joined our practice over twenty years ago. Sue is married to Rod and has two grown children. They, together, enjoy motorcycling and motorsports of all kinds.
Julie
Julie has over twenty years of dental assisting experience from various dental specialties. She is Dr. Corwin’s assistant. She lives in Scarborough with her two children, Stephan and Anna. Her hobbies are running, painting, cooking and travel.
Tammie
Tammie has been a dental assistant for twelve years and Dr. Burke’s assistant for over five. She says she is married to a wonderful man who makes her lunch, and they have two hairy children (dogs). Needless to say Tammie is crazy for all animals and devotes a lot of time to the local animal shelter. When she is not there she likes to spend time with her (human) family and friends, boating, dancing and gardening.
Lab Technicians
We proudly offer our patients an in-house dental laboratory, run by expertly trained and extremely skilled dental lab technicians. Each lab technician focuses on your comfort and the quality of your prostheses. They consult with our dentists to fit and create comfortable, natural-looking prostheses for you. Often our lab technicians will evaluate patients directly to customize aesthetics and insure the highest quality outcome. Even dentists outside of our office call them for help.
Robin
Robin has an Associate Degree in Applied Science (dental laboratory technology) at N.V.C.C. in Fairfax, VA. She is a Certified Dental Lab Ceramist and has been in the dental field for over 30 years. Robin is instrumental in engineering case design and does all diagnostic ‘wax –ups’ for patients. This allows the patient a visual concept of proposed treatment. She has been married to Jeff for 28 years and has two daughters in college.
Karen
Karen has a baccalaureate in Social Sciences from USM. She has also taken several courses in gemology and metal smithing from the Gemological Inst. Of America, Portland School of Art and Humbolt University. She’s married with three dogs and two love birds. A dental lab technician for twelve years, Karen does our gold and metal work as well as preliminary preparation for implant prostheses. In her spare time she enjoys landscape/gardening, old house restoration and long walks in the woods with the dogs.
